Singh Is Bling - Music Review (Manj Musik,Sajid-Wajid,Sneha Khanwalkar and Meet Bros Anjjan)

The album opens with Sneha Khanwalkar's "Tung Tung" , yes the same song from the popular MTV Sound Trippin but this time the vocals are provided by popular Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh. He adds the Bollywood touch to the simple and gorgeous folk tune!Perfect beginning for the album!
The next song is Manj Musik's catchy "Singh Aur Kaur", a fantastic song with a great hook and some really amazing rap verses. It is followed by the pleasant and beautiful song which has gained a cult status among the fans of Punjabi Pop, "Aaja Mahi." This one also comes in an unplugged version that is sung by Arijit Singh and is really a match to the original version! In fact ,I liked this one more than the original version, all thanks to Arijit's fantastic vocals!
The album enters into the "masala" category with the last two songs, Sajid-Wajid's "Cinema Dekhe Mamma" and Meet Bros Anjjan's "Dil Kare Chu Che." While the former looks like a song that belongs to a tamil or a telugu movie because of it's instrumentation and vocals, still it's a pretty enjoyable affair!
The later on the other hand was the song that I enjoyed the least and found it to be stricty OK!Still you can give it a try!

The album belongs completely to Manj Musik! They are the real bling!

Rating-  3.5/5

Picks-  Aaja Mahi, Singh Aur Kaur,Tung Tung

Ranglee - Single Review (Richa Sharma)

Ranglee” is the new single by “Richa Sharma” , the singer behind chartbusters like “Zor ka Jhatka (Action Replayy), “Sajda (My Name is Khan) and many more! Not only the vocals but the music has also been composed by Richa

The song is a fusion between the typical pop song and rock! The lyrics are written in Punjabi and are beautiful. In fact they are made more beautiful by Richa’s fantastic vocals. The hook uses some fantastic electronic guitar and is very catchy! Believe me when I say this,it’s very very catchy!

Overall it’s a good song and will definitely rule the charts!Again a great song by the versatile Richa!Very excited to hear a complete album from her!

Kudos to Zee Music for bringing such a mesmerising song to us!

Home - Music Review (Anoushka Shankar)

The album opens with a fantastic “Alaap” that is 11 minutes long and sets the tone for the whole album. The song offers an interesting  “Jugal-Bandi” between the sitar and the tabla.

The next song to follow is “Jod,Jhala."It is 10 minutes long and is based upon “Raga Jogeshwari.” It’s also good and some parts especially at 2:40,7:23 will give you Goosebumps! That’s the best part of classical music,it touches you from the inside!

Another divine song is “Gat in Rupaktaal” which is the longest in terms of duration (in “Raga Jogeshwari”).The song is 15 minutes long and is a beautiful combination of Sitar,Tabla and Tanpura! It’s one of the highlights of the album.

Now the second part of the album is based on “Raga Manj Khamaj” and comprises of my favourite song i.e. “Aaochar,Dadra,Teentaal,Coda.”The song is the longest in the whole album ( being 18 minutes and 26 seconds).I particularly am inclined towards this raga because I find it quite fast paced as compared to “Raga Jogeshwari” and also Tabla dominates in the whole
rhythm which I find appeasing!

Overall a fantastic album by the “Grammy-Nominated” artist! Definitely worth a buy and even if you are not into listening classical music ,you must give it a try!It will develop your taste and appetite for it!

Note – The CD booklet includes a beautifully penned treatise on Indian Classical music written by Pandit Ravi Shankar in 1965 , so make it a point to definitely grab the CD as it’s a limited edition!

Katti Batti - Music Review (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy)

“Lip to Lip” is a breezy faux-Punjabi number that sees Ritu Pathak in great form ,supported by Nikhil. The song is sureshot a chartbuster! It ultimately grows on you and you gradually become addicted to it!The music video is also fantastic!

“Sarfira” is largely catchy and the techno sound gets better by Siddharth and Niti’s vocals!Although it's predictable ,still you will enjoy it!The hook is too good! "Main Bhi Sarfira ,Ho Jaun Tere Liye", you just can't stop from humming it! :)

“Sau Aansoon” is in the familiar territory and made listenable by Shankar’s earnest vocals. The lyrics by Kumaar are also moving.

“Jaago Mohan” is a new-age,rock party bhajan.Worth a listen ,although some may not like it in the first listen!Still it is a fun track. The soundtracks’s best is “Ove Janiya” , an immersive Punjabi track treated beautifully with a minimal sound and is sung well in both the versions.I particularly liked Mohan's version as his vocals are tailor-made for this song!

A soundtrack worth a listen! Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy prove why they are called the "Amar Akbar and Anthony" of the industry!

Rating- 3/5

Can't Feel My Face - Single Review (The Weeknd)

A few days back , I was recommended by my friend who is a regular reader of my blog to listen to the artist called “The Weeknd.” He told me that The Weeknd ,although is new in the music scene but still is getting acclaimed worldwide. He particularly recommended me to check the video of the song , “ Can’t Feel My Face.”

At first I was very sceptical because in the past I heard some of these “so called” artists and did not find them appealing at all ,of course some were really good but most of them were full of flaws! But my friend told me that he is already a big artist as all his videos have got views in the range of 50 Million-170 Million and these many people can’t be wrong! Also I was told that his songs are chart-busters worldwide!

So I decided to give it a try , and was I impressed? Hell yes! The song is just fantastic !I mean it’s just awesome! It has got plenty of influences from the songs of Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson .Also towards the end it enters into a new genre with the slow paced hook. Vocals are also top notch and really stand out! I mean seriously after listening to it once you will definitely hear it for the second time !And after the second time it will enter into your playlist permanently !The video also complements the song and I was really happy to see the confidence of the artist in the video! I am sure that he is the next big thing! Seriously I regret not listening to this artist before !I was so influenced that I checked out all his videos and liked them too!His work is ground-breaking! He keeps you on hook from the inception!

So this week I decided instead of reviewing any album , I will give a special mention to him!He deserves your love and support !Trust me ,you will love him!
